COVINGTON, Ky. - Bexion Pharmaceuticals would be the first to tell you their research is far too preliminary at this point for them to be able to promise a cancer cure. They still could be several years and millions of dollars away from that, but one thing they can promise at this point is hope; hope for those who are desperate.

"There's no question it alters (brain) activity," said Dr. Philip Theodosopoulos, a neurosurgeon with the UC Brain Tumor Center and the Mayfield Clinic. "Whether it is carcinogenic or not, I think that is still yet to be answered in a definitive way ... I don't think it should be a cause for panic."

"The hope is that we'd be able to follow the tumor in a more sensitive way than methods currently available," such as using MRI scans, said Peter Stambrook, a professor of molecular genetics at the University of Cincinnati and a lead researcher on the project.
