Implant therapy involves the placement of small radiation seeds, chemotherapy wafers, or both seeds and wafers in a cavity after a tumor has been removed. The seeds and/or wafers remain in the cavity permanently. The University of Cincinnati Brain Tumor Center is an active participant in clinical trials that use implant therapy. The highly localized therapy is important in the treatment glioblastoma, a malignant brain tumor.
