First of all, it was wonderful to receive Teri's updates on Wally's surgery. It is great that he is progressing so well. Kathy said it looks like he is planning to be at our March board meeting.
As you may recall from our December board meeting, I am chairing the Brain Tumor Center's first fund-raiser: A Wine Tasting Event, which will be held on Thursday, April 29, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The event will be held in the grand foyer of the CARE/Crawley Building at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. In addition to raising funds, we hope to build awareness of the center as well as a pipeline for cultivation of future fundraising opportunities. Please mark your calendar and plan to join us.
Tickets will be $50/person. It will include an auction of vintage wines and a sampling of various wines from throughout the region and country. The committee hopes to attract 150 attendees. The planning team is working on the event theme, invitation list, catering plans, sponsorship and donations, and other various details.
We have a terrific planning team, which includes: Roger Heldman, Matt Tramonte, Dr. Ron Warnick, Dr. John Tew, Dr. Mary Gaskill, Gina Weitzel, Kimbaird Avant, and Tom Rosenberger. If you would like to be involved, please contact me directly, or you can respond through this blog.
According to Kathy, Chris Knueven and Wally Pagan are co-chairing another fundraising event that is in planning stages. The Brain Tumor's first walk/run event is tentatively scheduled for 10/10/10. More information on that at our next board meeting.
Thank you all for your commitment to the Brain Tumor Center. I look forward to seeing you soon.
Sincerely,
Rich Seal, Chair
Wine Tasting Event
