This week's blog entry features Tara Orgon-Stamper, NP, nurse practitioner with the Brain Tumor Center who has been with the program for about 2 1/2years.  Tara works with the brain tumor surgeons and nurses to make sure that patient services are consistent and of the highest quality throughout the organization.  "Tara has been instrumental in developing ways to improve the care we give our patients,"  said Ronald E. Warnick, MD, Director of the Brain Tumor Center.  "We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated team of nurses in our center, and Tara's work reflects their ongoing commitment."

Tara joined the Brain Tumor Center after working for five years at theMayfield Clinic.  "I saw the difficult challenges these patients face, andI was intrigued with the collaborative approach Mayfield was taking to meet these patient needs," said Tara.  "When the Brain Tumor Center was launched, I asked Dr. Warnick if there was a rolefor me within it.  Something told me it was a perfect fit."

Something was right.  Tara's work extends beyond the hospital and clinic.  She coordinates the development of patient education, patient access, and continuity of care.  Whether she is working on a presentation for a local support group, or preparing for a meeting to discuss the acuity adjustable patient care unit, she puts the patients first.  They easily relate to her unique blend of east coast moxy and midwestern charm.

Tara received her BA from Miami University in Zoology/Genetics.  She received her BSN from Virginia Commonwealth University, and attained her MSN right here at the University of Cincinnati.

Tara and her husband, Keith, who works for the federal government, have four children, ages 1 to 7.  When she is not with her family or working with the Brain Tumor Center team, Tara can be seen running, exercising, eating sushi, reading a good book, or spending time with friends.  She also loves to chaperone activities at her children's schools, and recently became a Girl Scout volunteer.
