A new relationship between the University of Cincinnati Barrett Cancer Center and Cincinnati Opera is lifting the spirits of hospital patients. Experts say music therapy can enhance quality of life. It can serve as a “mega vitamin” for the brain, and it can influence and improve motor function. “Music makes your spirit come to the surface and be prepared to be healed,” said John Tew, one of four UC Health neurosurgeons who forged the opera partnership. “There is a great need for healing in the Barrett Cancer Center,” said Tew.
